Not fancy, but we enjoy these places to dine. Plus it helps support small business.
- Joe's Oyster Bar - Port Isabel Best fried shrimp and seafood soup in the area!
- Los Tortugas - Port Isabel - Great little place, good food. Fresh! Purchase fresh fish, shrimp for take home.
- El Mexiquito - Port Isabel - Nice little local breakfast place with huge portions.
- Dirty Al's at Pelican Station - Port Isabel. Casual, good drinks, great food and big portions. Best for Taco Tuesday! Best blackened and grilled shrimp, fish dinners (the Islander is a favorite!), burgers and a great Avacado and Shrimp sandwich on Texas Toast!
- Painted Marlin Grille - SPI (great views, excellent drinks, outdoor dining on the water) If you bring a boat, just pull right up!
- Liams Steak House - SPI
- Yummi's Bistro - SPI - best breakfast and lunch spot on the island (we think anyway!)
Places to go, things to do:
- SpaceX - get up close and personal! Stand just 50 yards away.
- South Padre Island Birding And Nature Center- Most fun is the Alligator Rescue section!
- Go to the top of the Port Isabel Lighthouse and visit the shops in the area
- Take a Dolphin tour (though you may see some right off the balcony)
- Parasailing
- Jet ski or rent a boat
- Deep Sea Fishing
- Golf Cart Rental on South Padre
- On a rainy day, visit McCallen, Brownsville or Harlingen for shopping malls
